Setting the Holiday Table
Whether you are celebrating with family, friends or alone, as a host you should always prioritize your table setting for the season. Many choose to do this in advance of the event. Top priority is defining the feeling you want to evoke. I typically let my florals lead me.

For example, I wanted the design in the image above to be a cool twist on a dark romantic holiday theme. It required a balance between the deep colors of the florals and the muted tablecloth. Overall, the other components were subdued with little pops of color that reference the centerpiece.

The primary china is vintage Laurel from Castleton. The wine glasses are Gorham Queen Anne. I’m eager to expand my collection. The red coupe / compote gIasses are also vintage. I sourced all from estate sales.
I am always on the hunt so please reach out if need help with sourcing antique or vintage pieces, or consultation for interior decorating projects.

The next example is a colorful tablescape that gives a warm yet verdant take on the holiday season. The floral composition combines honeyed hues with pinks and greens, while contrasting with cooler blues and burgundy. The citrus serve ware adds a playful highlight. The floral tablecloth picks up on the colors from the flowers in the arrangement, as do the green lighting elements.

My advice is to always go with something that truly reflects you. However, you should also take risks and add unexpected elements to your designs that are memorable and spark joy.
